DEPRATO JR., JOHN LOUIS A lifelong resident of Ferriday, he died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was 84, born Aug. 14, 1920, in Ferriday, to John Louis DePrato Sr. and Pinkney Wilson DePrato. He was former owner and operator of Mobil Oil Distributorship in Ferriday. Mr. DePrato married Katherine Constance Vogt Nov. 28, 1942, in Ferriday. He attended Aviation Flight School in Pensacola, Fla., and Coronado Bay, Calif., and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy, as a Naval aviator from 1942 to 1945. He was a PBY search and rescue pilot in World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater. He was a former member of the Ferriday Rotary Club. Visiting at Comer Funeral Home, Ferriday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16. Religious service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ferriday, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, conducted by the Rev. Jamie Medina and the Rev. Kerr Texada. Interment in Natchez City Cemetery, Natchez, Miss. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Katherine Vogt "Kitty" DePrato, Ferriday; children, Jay DePrato, Ferriday, Mel Deprato Reid and her husband, Derrell, of Vidalia, Debra DePrato, New Orleans, and Jeff DePrato and his wife, Cori, of Prairieville; grandchildren, Stefany DePrato Primeaux, Baton Rouge, Jennifer Reid, Provincetown, Mass., Kate Reid, Vidalia, Haley, Ashlyn and Jake DePrato, all of Prairieville; and a great-grandchild, Cole Primeaux, Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be Steve Vogt, Mike Vogt, Pat Vogt, Shannon Vogt and Daryl Daye. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Gene Vogt, Howard Vogt, Kerr Texada, Austin Wison and Dr. William Hines. Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ferriday or to Catholic Charities.
