Myrtle Ruth Earnest Cobb, 94, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Hospital, after a sudden illness. She was born on May 15, 1921, to Bessie Hall Earnest and William Earnest, in Earnestville, FL, a town which is now called Bay Springs. Myrtle grew up in Pensacola and attended local schools. She graduated from Pensacola High School in the class of 1939. Right after graduation she began working for Southern Bell Telephone Company. Several years later she resigned to marry the love of her life and to settle down and raise a family. Mrs. Cobb had a long and successful life as the mother of one son, Dr. Barry Len Cobb. She was a beloved wife and mother and served several years with the Cub Scouts as a Den Mother. Mrs. Cobb was a devoted member of East Hill Baptist Church, and for many years she was a beloved teacher of the Sunday School Young Child program. She was especially respected and admired for her excellent culinary skills. She spent her later years at the Carpenters Creek Assisted Living Facility with her husband. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; five brothers; and her son.
She is survived by her spouse of 75 years, Len W. Cobb.
Visitation will be held 10:00am until the Funeral Service to begin at 11:00am Friday, May 29, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers are Lamar Cobb, William Cobb, Thomas Earnest, Guy Johnson, Dan Johnson, and Tom Carter.
