John Askew's will was dated 07 March 1822 and admitted to probate in Hancock County, Georgia on 04 November 1822. [S100034] Coweta County Chronicles for One Hundred Years, Mary Gibson Jones and Lilly Reynolds, (Atlanta, Georgia: Stein Printing Co., 1928), 715. Jones names Elizabeth Simm's husband as James Askew. This is not correct. Jones, for instance, names Eliza Garret as James's step-daughter from Elizabeth Simms first marriage; John, however, was the guardian of Garrett as repeatedly evidenced by the minutes of the Court of Ordinary for Hancock County.
