Little is known of Sarah. The eldest daughter of Holland Middleton and his first wife Sarah, she is married to a Dickinson according to Newman. Harry Wright Newman, The Maryland Semmes and Kindred Families, (Westminster, Maryland: Heritage Books, 2007) 279. One of the daughters of Holland Middleton is "Sarah Dicinson" in his Hancock County will. (The will was produced in July 1795). Rev. Silas Emmett Lucas, Jr., Some Georgia County Records, (Greenville, South Carolina: Southern Historical Press), Vol. 1, pp. 110-111. The wife of "Joel Dickenson" is identified as "Sarah" in a deed dated August 6, 1796. Helen and Tim Marsh, Land Deed Genealogy of Hancock County, Georgia (Greenville, South Carolina: Southern Historical Press 1997), pp. 178-179. Hancock County, Georgia Deed Book D, pp. 54. And in 1798, Joel Dickinson conveyed a parcel of ground originally granted to Holland Middleton in 1789. Ibid., p. 145. Hancock County, Georgia Deed Book C, pp. 114-116. William Owsley (probably the son of Newdigate Owsley) is a witness on this deed. The Owsleys and Middletons were related by marriage. Clark Morgan Dickinson (Sarah's son) also married Penelope Poring Owsley's (William's sister) granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Askew.
