Autauga County

On this 27th day of June in the year of our Lord 1835 personally appeared before me Thomas Hughes, JP, one of the Justices of the peace in and for the County aforesaid Thomas Connell, a resident of the State of Alabama Autauga County aged 97 years three months & 16 days who being first duly sworn according to Law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress, passed June 7th 1832. That he enlisted in the Army of the United States on the 11th day of March 1777 in the State of North Carolina in the County of Surry under Captain John Armstrong and served in the Continental Regiment of the North Carolina line, under the following named officers, viz.: that he enlisted on the 11th of March 1777 in the State of North Carolina & County of Surry under Captain John Armstrong, for the term of three months, but served six months in North Carolina in the Regiment commanded by Colonel Martin Armstrong. That during said time he was marched to an Indian town called [?]illico, and was the most of his time engaged in skirmishing Expeditions against the British & Tories & Indians but received no wounds.
