    Creek War of 1814. Upon return from an expedition to Pensacola to obtain stocks of powder and shot for planned hostilities in the Mississippi Territory, McQueen and his party of Creeks was ambushed by a force of local militia under the command of Col. James Caller. The militia had the better of the McQueen until it began pillaging in the baggage, allowing a counterattack that left the Indians in possession of the field. The location of the battle is unknown, but believed to have taken place in present-day Escambia County, near Castleberry.
