    • The marriage and children resulting from this union is recounted in an action brought to settle the respective interests of the children in property that had belonged to their grandfather John Baptiste Laurendine. The bill of complaint, for example, alleges "[t]hese children were the two male complainants [Pierre and John B. Juzan], Louisa J., now the widow of Henry Gunnison, and Amant, the wife of the defendant." Juzan, 664. Pierre is also identified as the eldest, he being 15 years of age in 1815 when his father deeded him 160 acres of the property which was the subject of the suit. The bill filed by the Juzan brothers and Gunnison also alleged that the sisters were raised by an aunt after the death of their mother and that the brothers were illiterate. Toulmin answered, alleging, inter alia, that Daniel and Louisa were married in 1795; that Louisa died in 1812; that Daniel died in 1825 leaving the four surviving children; that John Baptiste Laurendine, Sr., died in 1799 leaving six children, being John Baptiste, Jr., Harry, Peter, Edward, Barbary and Victor; and that son Pierre was deeded property on 3 Sep 1815.
