      W. R. Crain 91, died Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. O. Landress, 6123 East Grand, after a month's illness.

      Born December 11, 1851, near Franklin, Heard County, Georgia, he moved to Texas when he was 22 and settled at Bardwell, Ellis County, where he resided until moving to Dallas in 1906. In 1880 he married Amanda Darden of Bardwell, who died twelve years ago.

      He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Landress, and a son, W. W. Crain of Fort Worth; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

      Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. at the residence with Harry P. Wooten of the Gaston Avenue Baptist Church conducting the services. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

    • A number of researchers have identified Spencer's spouse as Mary J. Germany; however, the basis for this claim is not supported by any source. The death certficate for eldest son Robert Crain identifies his his mother as Mary Simmons. Son William Robert's death certificate identifies her as Unk. Simmons.
