    • OBITUARY

      VACAVILLE, CA - Lorain native Anthony Richard (Tony) Pakos died peacefully on March 27, 2014 in Vacaville, CA, surrounded by friends and family.

      Born to Martin and Mary Pakos on June 13, 1916, Tony was one of 14 children and is survived by sisters Mildred (Dolly) Pakos of Lorain and Dorothy (Doe) Pakos of Avon Lake. He is also survived by daughters Christine Saltis of Vacaville, CA and K. Beth Danica of Crestone, CO., grandson Daniel Saltis of Marysville, WA, grand-daughter Jennifer Bissett, currently residing in Fiji, plus many loved nephews and nieces.

      His wife Mary Freeman Pakos preceded him in death in 1999.

      Tony was a captain and bombardier in the U.S. Army 9th Air Force during World War II. Following his discharge in 1946, he attended college at the University of Arizona, Tuscon, where he met his wife of 50 years. They returned to Lorain in 1949 and he went to work at Thew Shovel Company, later to become Lorain Division of Koehring Company, from which he retired in the 1980's.

      Tony was a life member of the Fraternal Order of the Elks American Legion & National Slovak Society & many community organizations throughout his 97 year life. An avid golfer and sportsman, he was a devoted Cleveland Indians & Browns fan.

      Per Tony's wishes, he was cremated and his ashes were placed with family members. Anyone wishing to honor his life can make a donation to Yolo Hospice, 1909 Galileo Ct. Ste. A, Davis, CA 95618.

      His Hospice "angels" will always be remembered.
