William "Bill" Fletcher Tremer passed away peacefully with his beloved wife and best friend, and friends by his side on February 9, 2016.

Bill was born on October 27, 1937 in McComb, Mississippi. He moved to Panama City, Florida at an early age where he lived with his mother Adalia, father Leon, and his two sisters Joan and Judy. He graduated high school in Panama City in 1955, and joined the US Army serving as a tank commander. Upon leaving the army, Bill joined the Florida Highway Patrol and began his 43 year career in law enforcement. In 1971 he joined the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office serving with honor and distinction as a deputy, detective, and rose through the ranks, retiring in 2005 as the Undersheriff. Undersheriff Tremer excelled in his law enforcement career as a mentor, commander and a leader, developing countless life-long friendships. He graduated from the FBI National Academy and obtained a Masters Degree in Criminology from Nova Southeastern University.

In 1982 Bill met the love of his life- Diane Scott- and they were married the following year. For the next 32 years Bill and Diane shared a life full of joy and adventurous travels; but, first and foremost, they shared a life of love.

Bill was always active and enjoyed helping Diane with her teaching duties. One of his favorite tasks was "reading day" with her kindergarten class and showcasing the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office special units. Bill and Diane were avid movie buffs, restaurant critics and loved to travel. Bill also enjoyed reading, golf, and working with his Arabian Stallion "Carmen." He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Amara Shrine.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife Diane, sisters Joan DuBose and Judy Wiljannen, sister in-law Joan Bert and brother in law William Scott. Bill is preceded in death by his father Leon, mother Adalia and parents in-law Arthur and Eleanor Scott.

The visitation will be held at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, Florida on Friday, February 12, 2016, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM and on Saturday, February 13, 2016, from 2:00 - 3:00 PM. The funeral service will start at 3:00 PM on Saturday.
