      Charles Bayne Dickinson

      October 8, 1929--March 5, 2017

      Bay St. Louis, MS

      Charles Bayne Dickinson, a resident of Bay St. Louis, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017. He was 87 years of age. He was born and spent his childhood years in Griffin, GA. He graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in 1951. He was a Korean War veteran and was honorably discharged with rank of Captain in 1956. He was an electrical engineer by trade but had many passionate interests including, playing piano, painting and reading. He also enjoyed long hours in his workshop creating and developing ideas of his broad imagination. He is the holder of multiple patents. One of his proudest achievement was participating in the restoration of the church organ at Our Lady of Gulf Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Gex Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Olive Dickinson. He will be dearly missed by his sister Mary Cozine, son Bayne Dickinson and wife Beverly, his daughters Patricia Gibbens, Joan Newcomb and husband James and Monda Smith and her husband John; his grandchildren, Brandon Ulmer and wife Rachel, Jonathan Hewitt and fiancÚ Alanna, Morgan Gibbens, Katie Newcomb, William Dickinson, Nathan Hewitt and his wife Tara, Patrick Newcomb, Laura Dickinson and Emily Newcomb; his great grandchildren, Rosalyn, Grace and Margaret Ulmer. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to caregivers, Patsy, Jennie, Amanda and Dale. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of the Gulf Church, Bay St. Louis on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 pm. Burial with take place following the service at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady of the Gulf Church 228 South Beach Blvd., Bay St. Louis, MS 39520 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
