Charles McDowell was prominent in the Molena community in those days and had several childeren. Could Patrick have been one of his sons? My GGGrandad John P. Garner married Amanda T. McDowell in 1846 who I believe was a daughter of Charles McDowell and perhaps a sister to your Patrick?

      John,

I do not know how much info you have on Patrick, but I will share with you what I have. He was a Lt. in the confederacy. He was born Pike Co, Ga 1/15/1822 died 6/21/1884. He was a judge of inferior court, Pike Co Ga.

His father and mother were Charles and Elizabeth Crain Heard McDowell (my 3d great grandparents). His brother Charles Jefferson married Martha Amanda Johnson (my gg/grandparents).

Patrick named his son Charles Jefferson after his brother. Patricks brother was George Montgomery McDowell, he was a surgeon at the age of 21, he was also in the confederacy, these men are my ancestors, they descend from Ephraim McDowell who came to America in the early 1700's. I will be glad to share info with you, done quite extensive research on the McDowells.
      I remain sincerely,

      Jerry L Griffin
