  • Notes  Married:
    • There is no direct evidence that this or any union produced children. There is, however, circumstantial evidence that supports a finding that Capt. Henry Dudley was the father of Roger Dudley. Foremost is the appearance on the will of Roger's son, Gov. Thomas Dudley, of "a seal of the baronial Sutton-Dudley arms differenced with a crescent (i.e., indicating descent from a second son of a Sutton-Dudley baron)" [Plantagenet, 93]. [1, 2]
    • "Many attempts have been made to place Roger Dudley, father of the immigrant, into the large and prominent Dudley family of northern England, but without success. An extensive investigation of the ancestry of Thomas Dudley's maternal grandmother was published by F. N. Craig in 1988. [NEHGR 142:227-44]." [3]
